LESSONS & RIDES >>

For those that are not quite ready to jump on and go for a trail ride, we offer riding lessons to get you started. Depending on how fast  you catch on this can mean a quick run through or a an hour or two of lessons. For those who are interest in learning more about other ranching skills we offer lessons for that as well.

LESSONS

It's a daily task of preparing horse, dogs and equipment for the ranching tasks ahead. Every cowboy becomes proficient at these preparations and much culture, tradition and style has been passed through cowboy generations within this process.

Our partner cowboys are now ready and willing to pass some of these skills to to you.

Depending upon the task list for the day you are with us, and your skill level when arriving, these cowboys will single up with you and begin teaching you these age old skills. You can have as much time as you need.

RIDE - single day

Day rides, like all else on a working cattle ranch, will be dependent on the daily tasks of the ranch.

The location of single day rides will be with the cowboy's and their tasks of riding fence, gathering cattle, working corrals, branding and doctoring cattle, herding horses, checking waters, placing salt and minerals and so forth.

Day rides vary in  length of the ride and difficulty. The cowboys do their best to predict such items but as with other such professions, you cannot always predict the weather.

Minimum length of rides and difficulty are listed on the schedule.

RIDE - multi day adventure

Much of the work that is done on a ranch is far off the road so it is necessary to ride horses to get where you are going and spend a few nights out under the stars. This requires packing a mule with food, sleeping gear and materials.

Although this might sound harsh ask any cowboy and they will tell that this part of ranching is most desired. There is nothing more relaxing than to spend a few nights out in the forest under the stars, far away from the noise and hustle of the city. If you are looking for a real adventure that you are guaranteed to never forget come spend a few days with with us.

CAMP-OUTS>>

We offer hands on ranch experience and trail rides including overnight stays, as well as education on grass fed beef.

Joe Westbrook has been a ranch manager and cowboy his entire career. He knows the business of cattle and range management well. Being very busy in his daily work of keeping up a 60+ section (1 section = 640 acres) and thousands of cattle and many horses, he also takes the time to school grass fed beef customers and adventure seeker about the ins and outs of riding, packing, branding and other various activities on the ranch.

This is a great chance to learn about the process of range fed beef, or learn how to saddle and ride a horse in the ranching environment. Also, hear real stories from the cowboys of the White Mountains and eat cowboy cooking.

You can choose from camps, rides, or cookouts.

Camps are traditional cowboy teepee tents packed on mule or horse and chuck wagon breakfast and dinner camps. Lunches prepares and eaten on the trail or out on the range.

Activities follow the ranch schedule which is cyclical and seasonal. See the Calendar of Events.
